they did it for winx club? how did they change those sequences?

Like Zakura said, they rearranged some scenes, cut out parts of the henshin (like Musa's last 3 seconds spinning on the CD, Tecna posing, the flower in Flora's background spinning, Stella's background glowing twice, etc.) and added in a very annoying tune. "We are the Winx!" Yes, we freaking know you're the Winx. >_>

The original henshin music for the Winx Club is awesome by all means, though.

yeah, the new music does get to me. I recently heard the original henshin music...so much better.

Any idea where I can find the original uncut?
i don't care if it's raw; I don't think there are any fansubs anyway.

They make Minto more "teenagerish?" Wow, way to stereotype. >_>
well.. they DO...it is kinda weird because they are too mature for their actual ages...

There isn't a timeline or record about when you're this mature and when you're that mature, so it doesn't make sense that you'd say they act more mature than they are.

Even when one refers to someone being teenager-ish, it's just a stereotypical stage (like Mingming mentioned), not a level of maturity.

In the episode where Ichigo, Lettuce and Pudding get Seijii to the recital.

This line bugs me in the MMP

"OH ZOEY! DON'T HAVE A CONIPTION(sp)!" *bridget*

"Too late for that Bridget!" *Kikki*

a- Kikki's voice is just ARGH!
b- what's a coniption(sp)? I bet most people have no idea what thatis?

I like the music though (at the end when Sergio gives Corina the flowers and she dances)

Conniption - Basically it's if someone gets really mad or really excited and makes a big deal over something. To make a fuss. To have a "cow", etc...

I used to use that world all the time. I don't anymore though. O_o; Probably because I don't see people I know get that worked up that often.

And I don't think you girls should be making a fuss over spelling as long as you know what a person is saying. ^^; A lot of people much older than you are horrible spellers. My roommate even asks me how to spell really REALLY simple words... (like I think it was "being" once o.o) and if you joke around about it, it could hurt someone's feelings.

I think it's interesting how the american girls are more open to confronting Renee about her cold behavior than in the japanese version.  Whether it's something to do with her age/celebrity status/just plain scariness, no one gives Zakuro any flak for being aloof or anti-social.
Zoey, on the other hand is much more confrontational, and isn't afraid to say "you're a jerk - quit it!"

I agree! *Nods* They said 'Kikki' was from a shelter in one episode...*Shudders* Scary...

Well I don't mind if Kikki is from a shelter (I know she's not), but I would mind if Purin was.

Kikki is Purin, Purin is Kikki; they're one in the same, therefore saying "I don't mind if Kikki is from a shelter, but I would mind if Purin was," makes no sense.

Hmmm?  Not exactly trivia but in episode 7 all of the graffiti on the walls were edited out but on episode 23 they edited out words on a door that were English and put in graffiti in it's place.   Huh

A while back I wrote a dub comparisson of episode 24 for Mew-Mew Power Uncensored.  Would it interest anyone if I posted it on this forum?

Unofficial episode compaisson of MMP ep. 24: "Diamonds are a Girl's Worst Enemies", by Cypher DS.

Quote
MY THOUGHTS:
Best episode I've seen yet.  To quote Zoey, the main script is like totally identical!
Cuts were all small, insignificant starts and finishes of scenes, and Zakuro/Renee keeps her aloof, tough-love personality (as opposed to ep. 21 where she drops the cool demeanor and confesses she's scared).  Only real downfall were the stereotyped bit players (snotty British announcer, wacky gay hairstylist), and the subtle return of the mini-rap.  On the other hand, some minor tweeks in dialogue actually flesh out today's special characters much better, and add to Renee's past.

----------
----------

MISC
*Yamada Tsukiko = Gretchen.  An intern from Ohio who's thinking about giving up and opening a mall kiosk.
*Yamada's Boss = Mr. Rayburn.  A little nastier, but generally the same lines.
*Pop Jewelry Collection = Rayburn Jewelry

*If Mew Mew Power ever goes the way of Pokemon and resets its acting cast, I'd recommend Gretchen's VA as a replacement for Bridget.  She's got a sweet voice, not overly low or heavy.

*The title is the only mention the dub gives to the whole "diamonds are a girl's best friend" cliche, and focuses on the rainbow stone's personal significance to Gretchen, rather than girls in general being jewelry fiends.
----------

MISC
The dub continues its running gag where Zoey's friends are actually pretty nasty to her.
In the first scene as she runs off from the mall, panicking about hiding her cat ears:

Megan: "She needs some serious medication when she gets like that."
Mark: "I guess it's kinda cute."
Mimi: "I guess true love is totally blind."

MISC
As she catches her breath outside the café, Zoey gives herself a mental note to stop hanging out with her (to quote Kari) "snarky friends".  About time, girl!

SDA (Stupid Dialogue Alert)
"Some mover guys dropped a piano on Renee's personal assistant!" -- Kiki, re: why Renee needs Zoey's help

I guess American employees are still expected to show up when they're hit with the flu.

CUT
(9 sec) Ichigo reflecting on the rings she saw back at the mall, and Mint getting pissed at the girl’s new enthusiasm.  Instead, we jump to ...

ALT
No, not the aliens!  Elliot briefing the trio on Rainbow Stone's relation to Blue Aqua.  And the texted name stays on screen!  Pretty much the same, except the afternoon shot of the café is switched to a night shot to explain this is during Renee's evening rehearsal.  Also, the girls don't know that such a stone will be at Renee's fashion show - they'll just be there to support a friend.  The aliens, on the other hand are well informed.

MISC
Half-visible poster text behind Renee's head is Englished up.  "The Future is - " "Rayburn Jewelr-"

SDA
To fill the blank where we should be grooving to the engrish of "Don't Cry", Zoey monologues over Renee's catwalk rehearsal in a posh English accent (she's play-acting being an m.c.), being sure to credit herself for Mz. Roberts' stunning wah-drobe!

SDA
Ah, this one takes me back to Sonic X with its Irish Cops and Russian Businessmen!  Renee's hairstylist, by virtue of never facing the camera, gets throwaway banter, and he's a way-gay eurotrash metrosexual gossiping about his other clients.  "Oh!  Vell if her hair wazn't dyed, zen ahym ze Emperah of Jahpan!" etc.

ALT
Where Ichigo moved Yamada to tears by offering to help clean up the spilt boxes, Zoey just teases about what a mess Gretchen's made and brings on the waterworks.  How Rude!

SDA
"I've got it - you should join a demolition crew!"  -- Zoey to Gretchen re: her proficiency at causing messes.

CUT
(approx 16 sec) The three shots of Zakuro modeling as Ichigo and Yamada talk.

CUT
(7 sec) The first shot of Keiichiro briefing about Rainbow Stone in the café lab.

ALT
Gretchen's name is introduduced only when our cat-girl calls her in the hallway the next morning.

ALT
Just some montage flips.  Immediately after the commercial break.
Zakuro poster --> gala crowd --> Ichigo and Zakuro chat --> Yamada moping --> more chatting --> boss comes in.
Gretchen moping --> gala crowd ---> Zoey and Renee chat ---> more chatting --> boss comes in.

CUT
(4 sec) Ichigo running up to Zakuro for the chat.

ALT
Instead of worrying about Yamada having disappeared, Zoey chews out Renee for being so cold to the girl.

ALT
text on the megascreen is Englished up.

ALT
The broadcast over the megascreen.  Rather than give a pep talk about girls being diamonds in the rough, Renee gives a pep talk drawing from her early days in songwriting.  When she began, producers were bored with her material and refused to record her songs.  But Renee just kept at it, found a way to record independently, and ended up impressing the music scene.  "Sometimes you have to show people how to see beauty".

ALT
Gretchen grows some backbone when she confronts her boss, and actually offers to wear the Rainbow Stone herself.  (In the original he proposed it as an insult.)

CUT
(40 sec) Ichigo's over-abused transformation sequence.  (Now if only they could do the same for the Rose Bell!)

MISC
Animal Instinct is the transformation song this time around, with focus on Corina, Bridget and Kiki, so we can segue into their rush backstage to fight Sardon and Tarb

MISC
Sardon's attack today is the Aerial Torpedo to go with Pai's modified "Windy, Piercing Fan".

CUT
(5 sec) Lettuce yelling at Pai, and searching for him backstage.

MISC
Bridget's attack today is the Deep Sea Surge.  Corina says nothing during her attack animation.

ALT
The crosswhip is restyled for inoffensive atheism, as usual.

When Renee reflects on the rainbow stone she retrieved, the importance is its value to Gretchen, rather than that whole "only girls will find the true value of jewelry" shlock.

SDA
"Look at her, her radiance knows no equal!  I mean, talk about mew mew style, and mew mew grace!" -- Corina, doing her fan-girl ogling of Renee on stage.

TOTAL RETAINED
   93% - pure episode* (-81 sec)
78% - with OP, end and previews subtracted* (-319 sec)

*give or take -2% for speed ups, and they probably cut something I missed from the after-hours chat, and the café lab briefing.

I think that 4kids remade them so that they are a bit too.. valley girlish. THat line "Sleepovers are so 13," was really dumb. >_>

I agree with Lune, they seem too America teenager-ish and alot of the voices are too honky and mismatching. -.-

The episode that i think was cool was the one where Zoey and mark go to the carnaval and Dren's there. It's so funny when Zoey says,"You think you can just come up to girls a kiss them?!" Cheesy  The badest one was W/ the Butterfly predisite, not really a Thumbs up. Sad

I should use the word "connipition!"

My biggest problem with the alternations is making them too pop American teenagery.
