I think that getting the rights to any non-TMM/MMP-original song would be bloody near impossible.  That's just me.  The Japanese version of SpeedGraher uses Duran Duran's "Girls on Film" -- but it wasn't available for the English version.  Copyrights can be pretty tricky things.

And as for Dren/Kisshu singing -- he never once sings in either version of the show, as far as I know, so there is no logical place to put a song.  I think the pop-ish feel of many of the songs in the show fit, as well as whenever they have switched to Latin, rock, classical, or what-have-you.  So, to the question of what kind of music fits, I think it's fine as it is, at least in TMM.  MMP has some good songs, but some very odd songs,as well.

Thing #1: Metal or whatever wouldn't fit TMM. Remember, it is "children-friendly".
Thing #2: Emo is NEVER an option.

I don't think that any of the characters should sing, but dont you think that the transformation song are really good compared to tokyo mew mew?
