4kids gave up on their dub/butchering of TMM, aka Mew Mew Power. So, who will get the franchise now? I'm betting on Illumitoon/Toei, since from what I hear, they also picked up Pretty Cure when 4kids abandoned it (read from Wiki, in fact).

Don't rely on Wiki, it lies. Frequently.

I don't really think anyone is going to pick up Tokyo Mew Mew. Mermaid Melody was licensed at one point and then got dropped. Magical Girl anime just doesn't do very well in America, with the exception of Sailor Moon. Most people write other magical girl shows off as ripoffs.

She said Toei picked up the rights to Precure, ^^; not that 4Kids had it. However, 4Kids DID have it at one point, according to Anime News Network. I believe I also read an article there (ANN) about the International Licensing Convention(?) or whatever it was, and Precure was listed as Illumitoon/Toei's property.
But yes, Wiki lies a lot, because the people editing it are rarely ever experts, especially when the articles are about anime which is Japanese (obviously) and then English-speaking people write the articles, fans essentially, you get the drift I think... and since ANYONE can edit it, the person who picks up a certain section of it might not know everything.

My grumbling about Wiki aside, I still don't think that TMM is going to get picked up again. This might be different for other countries, since it was dubbed in so many languages, but I don't see it happening in America what with the anime industry not doing very well anyway thanks to illegal downloads and our already down economy, and because there are just so many other big-name anime that are way more popular such as Gurren Lagann and Death Note and Bleach, etc. People really aren't buying that much anime right now. It just wouldn't be profitable for any company unless they planned to really go all out on it with merchandise, and even then, it'd be a huge risk for them that I don't think they'd take, because it would be very possible that it would all just flop, and they'd lose money.

Geneon has licensed Nanoha, but they went down. Even so, their remains have subbed s1 and A's and I hear they've already picked out a dub cast...

But yes, it seems unlikely, sadly. Sad

Seeing what FUNimation did when 4Kids LOST One Piece, I wouldn't be surprised if they picked up TMM and started the dub all over. I dount that rare miracle would happen though, because it's well, a magical girl anime.

It would be nice if someone DID pick up TMM and made the dub better, so it would actually be worth watching...but I doubt that's going to happen... TMM is probably just going to stay online and in the manga itself... unless someone is brave enough to step up and get it back out there again.

It's not a matter of bravery so much as economics.  Where is the monetary advantage for picking up a once-failed, no-longer-active series with a somewhat smaller fanbase? They have to make a profit from it, and for dubbing companies right now, it would probably just be a money sucking expenditure. :/

hmmm... IDK.... I remember when they first took it off the air then everyone got really mad and threated 4kids that they were not going to watch or get on 4kids tv ... Then they put it back on for atleast 5 repeated episodes then took it off again.  I was so Pissed and so now... I don't watch 4kids anymore
